Equipment to Buy

To track aircraft flight data and feed to exchanges you need to setup a computer and receiver capable of listening to the airwaves. Any computer that you have will technically work, but traditionally this is done with a small dedicated computer called a Raspberry Pi so that your data reception is not interrupted by work that you do on your laptop or desktop computer.

These small computers are very power efficient and can be left on 24 hours a day without any noticable impact to your energy bill. They are also very tailored for the purposes of collecting and sending data to the Internet without imposing a negative spousal factor.

We have put together some lists of recommended equipment to acquire depending on your level of interest or experience.
